Altering your home
Apartments
As you do not own the building, you are not allowed to make changes to your apartment’s footprint.
Houses
Under the terms of the covenants associated with your property, you are not permitted to make alterations to the external appearance of your property without the formal approval of DQMC. To facilitate the approval of requests for modifications there is a sub committee of three directors who, in the first instance, would be happy to discuss any queries you might have on the process and what modifications may or may not be approved. All subsequent requests for modifications must be then made through Premier estates who will formalise and document your request.
The intent of the covenants is to ensure that Deganwy Quay retains its aesthetics and atmosphere and that owners do not have the privacy or enjoyment of their property compromised in any way.
The Board have decided that no increases to the external footprint of any property will be approved. In the case of any other proposed external changes the team will always ask the owners of neighbouring properties for their views on your proposed alterations. If the neighbours have reasonable objections then these will be taken into account.

Repairs
Garage Doors
If you wish to change your garage doors, you must retain the look and colour of the originals. All the estate garage doors are off white and have a Georgian rectangular relief pattern.
The original Henderson matt white garage paint’s RAL number is 9016. A suitable matching garage door paint is Hammerite Ultima Matt White
Henderson, the original garage door manufacturer, is no longer trading so an exact replacement door is unobtainable. However the Board have found a suitable alternative supplier whose contact details are available from the Board.
Balcony and Railings
The estate’s blue colour is Oxford Blue. This blue is in the British Standard 381C colour system as BS 381C 105. It is not a standard RAL colour. However, most paints can be tinted to BS 381C 105. Johnstone’s Smooth Metal Paint is a semi-gloss paint that can be applied to bare or corroded metal and provides long lasting protection against salt spray and UVL. It can easily be mixed to BS 381C 105.
K-Rend
K-Rend has been used on all the properties on Deganwy Quay. Unlike traditional render, K Rend uses silicone to reduce the amount of water absorbed by the render whilst allowing water vapour to pass freely through the render, ensuring your property breathes. As the finish is drier, it is more resistant to algae growth. K-Rend lasts for between 25 to 30 years.
Repairs: If you wish repair an area of K-Rend, the Board has a number of samples. These samples detail the K-Rend catalogue colour code which will be useful to you. Please contact the planning team, if you would like to see these samples.

If you are planning any render repairs, please contact the planning team if you would like access to these samples.
Repainting: If you wish repaint an area of K-Rend, the Board strongly recommend that you use a silicone based paint that preserves breathability. K-Rend makes both silicone based masonry paint and K-Rend Enhancer in a range of colours that should match your original K-Rend. Again the samples held by the Board may make colour matching easier as some of the colours are very similar.
